![]() ![]() Wearing liquid-tight gloves without changing them for more than four hours per day is to be regarded as stressful in the sense of § 9 para. The required number of protective gloves as well as the times for changing gloves must be taken into account in the work organisation. ![]() It is recommended to change gloves at least every hour or optionally to wear cotton undergloves. The frequency of glove changes must be determined as part of the risk assessment. In the case of liquid-tight gloves, an appropriate alternation of activities with and without gloves should be aimed for, as prolonged wearing of liquid-tight gloves can cause damage to the skin due to perspiration (wet work). When coming into contact with chemicals, such as disinfectants, the individual breakthrough time of the glove must be observed. Protective gloves must not be worn longer than necessary. Skin contact also includes contact of aerosols, gases and vapours with the skin. Skin contact means: direct contact of the skin with liquids, pastes, solids, including wetting of the skin with splashes, as well as contact with contaminated work clothing, including personal protective equipment or contaminated work surfaces or work equipment and tools.
